Optical Cosmetic Procedures
Considering that the eyes are the first facial feature most people notice, it’s not surprising that many people undergo optical procedures to improve appearance year in and year out. Many optical procedures combat issues related to aging, and natural blemishes that can occur through one’s lifetime.
Varieties of Cosmetic Procedures
- Botox Injections: Botox injections are performed primarily to reduce the appearance of wrinkles in the areas surrounding the eyes. Botox procedures work by temporarily paralyzing skin tissue with very minor dosages of toxins, effectively giving the skin a smoother appearance. These procedures are carried out typically by plastic surgeons in an outpatient setting.
- Blepharoplasty: Blepharoplasty is a treatment where skin and fat are removed from the eyelid to give a less puffy, less wrinkly appearance. Blepharoplasty can also be performed to create a crease in the upper eyelid, which many people of Asian descent are born without. While most blepharoplasty procedures are performed for cosmetic reasons, it can be an important procedure for people who have impaired vision due to enlarged or sagging eyelids.
- Latisse: Latisse is a treatment used to grow longer and more dense eyelashes. Latisse treatments use a solution that can help extend the growth phase of eyelashes, resulting in a fuller, more prominent look.
